Why We Do It

Suicide Prevention.

From the very start I wanted The Rings of Change to be more than just a cool thing to wear on your finger. In fact, I’ve had some people simply donate without purchasing a ring.
While suicide is a tough and touchy subject, it also is something that impacts the lives of friends and family often for their entire lives as it has mine.

This is why The Rings of Change is committed to helping raise money for NAMI New Hampshire (National Alliance on Mental Illness). Though all suicides are tragic, teen and U.S. Veteran suicides are especially so because teenagers have not yet lived long enough to know that IT DOES GET BETTER. I’m proof of that. Veterans have served their country, often only to return to a country that feels like it has abandoned them both emotionally and professionally. The good news is… these and all suicides are preventable when someone has access to the right tools and counseling.

Below are a few helpful links to some of New Hampshire’s NAMI resources.

So this is why I/we do it. This is who we do it for. The current pandemic has stressed out an increasing amount of people, putting some at risk. The need for educating yourself to recognize the signs, or for getting help for yourself, is higher.

Selling coin rings is just a small thing I do to help raise money and awareness. So, please take a look at what we have available at The Rings of Change and know your purchase does more than just look cool on your finger.

Canadibbean Coin Rings

Centuries ago a young, handsome constable of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police name Dudley Do-Right and his trusty horse Nell, set out to vacation in the Canadian Caribbean. Things were much cheaper and horses could swim for weeks on a diet of oats and whimsey. Dudley paid for his trip with a bunch of Canadian Large Cent coins and came back to the bosom of his beloved Toronto with a pocket full of East Caribbean coins.

Decades later Dudley sent his Canadian Large Cent and special Limited Edition Canadian Large Cent coin rings with a Sterling Silver Lining and East Caribbean dollar coins to Stan at The Rings of Change who turned these coins into rings to help raise money for U.S. Vets and Teens at risk for suicide. Here are a few that are available now at The Rings of Change.

TRUE STORY!

Incuse Indian Coin Ring

The Incuse Indian Tribe, as spiritual and savage as rumored…. were not actually ever a real tribe of native Americans. The word “Incuse” is term coin-people use to describe the method of minting where the art is punched into the coin rather than the traditional relief type of minting that we are used to. The cool thing about this type of minting is when put through the antiquing process with Liver of Sulfur (stinky stuff) the dips and valleys keep the stain and the rest is gently removed with 0000 steel wool and polishing. The results are pretty stunning.
This is the only Incuse Indian coin I have, but they are not particularly hard to find. They are uncirculated replicas of the 1929 coin made with .999 fine silver. They come in 1/10th, 1/2, 1 and 2 or even 5 troy ounce sizes. YEP… 5 ounces is MASSIVE. Like a giant silver Frisbee is my guess. Maybe large enough to serve things on that silver platter. Suffice to say… the 1/2 to 1 troy ounce sizes will be fine for rings.
NOTE: I have not made this ring yet. It will need to be ordered as a “Custom Ring” HERE.

Health Benefits of Copper SALE

Before anyone thinks I’m just trying to sell snake oil here, I am not. Copper has long been known through clinical studies to have several health benefits. Many of our coin rings are copper-clad and while some (one out of ten people) may get the dreaded “green skin”, this is not hazardous in any way. More of just an annoyance.

Copper can help in these key areas:

  • Make red blood cells
  • Keep nerve cells healthy
  • Support your immune system
  • Form collagen, a protein that helps make up your bones and tissues
  • Protect cells from damage
  • Absorb iron into your body
  • Turn sugar into energyThe Rings Of Change always has a large inventory of copper coin rings available, we’ve decided to chop $20 off the regular price. While there is no evidence at all of copper having any health benefits against the COVID-19 virus it certainly can’t hurt in other areas. Please specify your desired ring size and shipping information at checkout. Each coin ring comes in it’s own velvetine bag with a polishing cloth and shipping is FREE. Get your favorite STATE or STATE PARK coin ring here, now just $25/ea (wait times may be required if we have to go find one that is not in inventory).

Pirate Coin Rings

ARRRRRR! I suppose everyone has an inner pirate lurking in their assorted career options they passed up. FEAR NOT!!!! Our Silver Shield Pirate Coin Rings are the perfect solution. You can wear some pretty sweet .999 pure silver without all that pillaging and historically inaccurate depictions of captains with prosthetics from resourced materials found on a cursed ship flying the Jolly Roger.

Given the size of the coin these rings lend themselves to larger fingers. I am keeping my eye out for similar designs for more slender digits. The detail and design of these coin rings is on par with the Aztec calendar rings. These things come to life with some antiquing. The process takes a bit longer but the results are stunning.

These coin rings are always available HERE!!!!

You Florin Me

The “land down under” has one of my favorite coins for making coin rings. For starters they are 92.5% Sterling Silver. Sterling can polish up to a mirror finish, but has just enough other metal to make it resilient to wear. This was done to enable coins to stay in circulation longer and resist the wear that comes from use and floating about in people’s pockets all the time.
NOTE… I always purchase “uncirculated” or “near uncirculated” coins for my rings.
Over the last months I’ve started to develop relationships with some coin people in Australia and New Zealand. They are on the lookout for what I’m looking for. That said… The Rings Of Change is now offering a limited supply of these GEM quality rings. I could easily sell them for $100/ea. Nope…. not even $75. I love working with these so much that I am making them available at $50.

This is not a sustainable price, but I’m hoping to get these fine rings out to get the conversation about suicide prevention out there and bring people to this cause through my website.  Order you own Sterling Silver Australian Florin HERE!

The Morgan Dollar Coin Ring

The U.S. Morgan Dollar is one of my favorite coins for design reasons. Both sides of the coin are attractive and patriotic. They are getting harder to find in “uncirculated” or “near uncirculated” condition. With high silver content coins, the least amount of time in the pocket, the better. Morgan Dollars are 90% silver and 10% copper. Their popularity as men’s rings is formidable. Size 12 and up has few perils in making than those 10 and under. Think “big fat coin”… “lots of squishing”.

Here’s a bit of stolen history on the Morgan Dollar…. The Morgan dollar was a United States dollar coin minted from 1878 to 1904, and again in 1921. It was the first standard silver dollar minted since production of the previous design, the Seated Liberty dollar, ceased due to the passage of the Coinage Act of 1873, which also ended the free coining of silver. The coin is named after its designer, United States Mint Assistant Engraver George T. Morgan. The obverse depicts a profile portrait representing Liberty, while the reverse depicts an eagle with wings outstretched. These are available NOW on this site right HERE!

Zero Fucks Coin Rings Going Fast

From the “Whodathunk” files… These Zero Fucks Coin Rings are selling at a pretty fast clip. I got one down to a size 9, but that’s as far as I dare take this challenge coin size coin. I am conversing with the manufacturer about getting a run of Sterling or .999 silver versions and even a smaller half dollar sized one that would lend itself to smaller sizes, though that might require a new plate… and those cost moola.

These rings make great gifts for anyone you know who has spent their cache of Fucks, or who’s field of Fucks lay barren. Because of the thickness and material they are a BEAST to make. Most of it requiring the 6 ton hydraulic press, a mile of teflon tape and patience. You can order your Zero Fucks coin ring HERE.

…and as always… thank you for supporting the cause.

How Many Fucks Do You Give

Clearly we all have days when we don’t give a single one. Other days? Maybe one. This coin ring gives you the chance to let people know one way or the other. These are Morgan Dollar (39mm) sized coins that result in fairly wide band rings, but are certainly not limited to one sex or the other. Both sides make a nice ring. It just depends on how many “Fucks” you give. They will be sized 6-14, silver-plated, antiqued and sealed. Should be available in a few weeks at $70/each with FREE shipping in the lower 48 states. I will create a product link on the Rings Of Change site once they become available. Until then you can pre-order them using my  Contact Us thingy here.

America The Beautiful

I’m about to produce some very special coin rings from the America The Beautiful – National Parks series.

The America the Beautiful silver bullion coins comprise a series of silver bullion coins with a face value of a quarter dollar. The coins contain five troy ounces of silver, making them the largest silver bullion coins ever issued by the United States Mint. They have been issued since 2010 and will continue to be issued until at least 2021.

While I will be initially selecting the coins based on interest and design, I would love to hear from people about any (available) National Park that you have a special memory of. The .90% Silver Proof coins with be made available on this site and in person for the patriotic price of $50/ea. You can place your order here. Include rings size and which National Park you want. Wait times will vary on availability.

*All ring images are representative of the ring(s) you will receive. Example images will change as needed.
